About The Role

Atlantic Health are seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time Occupational Therapist II to join our Acute Care team at Newton and Hackettstown Medical Centers. The therapist in this role will work with adult patients presenting with a range of surgical, orthopedic, and neurological conditions. The incumbent in the position will work variable shifts, Monday-Friday with two weekend days per month as needed, and will work at both medical centers.

The OT II provides advanced therapeutic evaluations and treatments to facilitate functional independence in patients. This role includes developing individualized care plans, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team and guiding patients through complex interventions to improve mobility, self-care, and daily living skills. It also involves mentoring staff and contributing to quality improvement.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, effective communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care. The OT II serves as a clinical resource for colleagues, supports quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to the development of rehabilitation services.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include

  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and establish individualized plans of care.
  • Develop measurable, functional, and time-oriented treatment goals.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions to improve activities of daily living, functional mobility, cognition, upper extremity function, and safety.
  • Reassess patient status and modify treatment plans based on clinical progress and changing needs.
  • Engage patients, families, and support people in treatment planning and discharge preparation.
  • Accurately document evaluations, treatments, reassessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, departmental, and professional documentation standards.
  • Complete billing and productivity requirements within established timeframes.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to therapists, COTAs, students, and new staff members.
  • Supervise and provide feedback to COTAs in accordance with state regulations and organizational policy.
  • Assist with competency development, training initiatives, and departmental education activities.
  • Hospital-based experience preferred.
  • Experience managing medically complex patients preferred.

Current NJ State License to practice Occupational Therapy.

BLS preferred or within 90 days of hire.

Acute care experience preferred.
