About The Role

As an Hardware Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our NI ON department. Your primary focus will be on optical pluggable products, from concept to manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, efficiency, and quality. You will act as a key interface between various teams, ensuring a seamless product development journey.

  • Own the product transition process from concept to high-volume manufacturing for optical pluggable modules.
  • Drive product design decisions, considering manufacturability, cost, quality, and automation aspects.
  • Act as the engineering liaison between Product Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and other relevant teams.
  • Lead DFM, DFA, PFMEA activities, process qualification, and production ramp-up initiatives.
  • Support various optical transceiver platforms, including OSFP, OSFP-XD, QSFP-DD etc.
  • Review GD&T, module housings, thermal lids, heat spreaders, and other critical components from assembly and cost effectiveness perspective
  • Create process flows, work instructions, and assembly procedures for efficient manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience, with a strong background in mechanical product design.
  • Proficiency in Creo Parametric, GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience in NPI and production readiness, supporting EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp-up.
  • Strong DFM expertise for optical modules, precision mechanical assemblies, and high-density electronic products.
  • Ability to develop manufacturing tooling and fixtures, with knowledge of automated screw driving and machine vision systems.
  • Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, and process improvement methodologies like 8D, DMAIC, and 5 Why.
  • Familiarity with optical module domain knowledge, including OSFP MSA, QSFP-DD MSA, and coherent optics.
  • Understanding of thermal engineering principles and experience with FloTHERM or similar thermal analysis tools.
