Position Summary
The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Dairy Department, ensuring exceptional product quality, inventory accuracy, merchandising standards, customer service, and associate productivity. This position provides leadership and direction to department associates while helping maintain optimal in-stock conditions, minimizing shrink, and supporting department sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
- Oversee daily Dairy Department activities and workflow.
- Ensure dairy products are properly stocked, rotated, dated, and merchandised according to company standards.
- Monitor department conditions to maintain product freshness and availability.
- Support execution of promotional programs, seasonal displays, and merchandising initiatives.
- Ensure department readiness and presentation throughout operating hours.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking dairy products.
- Ensure compliance with inventory control and product rotation practices.
- Identify out-of-stock conditions and take corrective action when appropriate.
- Help reduce shrink through proper handling, storage, dating, and rotation procedures.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-focused culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, questions, and special requests.
- Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting shopping environment.
- Support initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide daily direction, support, and leadership to Dairy associates.
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of team members.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Monitor work performance and provide feedback to associates.
- Support department leadership in achieving productivity and performance goals.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor refrigeration systems and proper product storage temperatures.
- Ensure products are properly dated, labeled, and handled.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work and storage areas.
- Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety practices.
Financial Performance
- Support achievement of department sales, labor, and shrink goals.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with efficient utilization of labor and department resources.
- Support inventory control efforts that contribute to profitability.
- Contribute to overall department and store success through strong execution.
Qualifications
- Previous grocery, dairy, retail, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of dairy operations, merchandising, and inventory management preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop associates.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer and operational knowledge.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise consistent with department requirements.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
