Inventory Assistant

Position Description: An inventory assistant keeps count of products and supplies, ensures that company inventory remains balanced, restocks supplies, assists in maintaining inventory records, and provides customer assistance as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Inventory Assistant
*Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type,
and value of material, equipment, merchandise, or

Verifies clerical computations against physical
count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or

inventory in the stock room. Files all deliveries and
inventory receipts. Uses inventory system to keep
track of orders, returns, and supply.
Writes up inventory reports detailing any overstock or missing items.
Prepares reports, such as inventory balance, price lists, and shortages.
Ensures that the stock room is clean and well
organized. Moves and restructures the organization of
stockroom to make space for new inventory.
Assists in cleaning and organizing the warehouse.

Packs up items for delivery and creates shipping

Submits orders for replenishment of inventory.
•Retrieves products from the stock room for service

Reviews shipping and receiving documents for
accuracy.
Assists warehouse or inventory supervisor in
devising new ways to reduce shrink and maintain
inventory control.

Job Qualifications:

• Mathematics skills: good with numbers and figures. They will compare

prices, count and audit stock, and do other calculations regularly.

• Computer literacy: work with spreadsheets and other computers

Software and some computer skills are a must.

• Data analysis capabilities: Basic knowledge and

understanding of smartphones is much preferred. Good
at Excel.

• Bachelor’s degree: Bachelor’s degree in business

management or equivalent work
experience.

•  Experience in the retail and/or inventory sectors
is preferred. Applicants with experience in packaging
and shipping will be given priority.
