About the role
- Manage quality control for all incoming raw materials.
- Establish and enforce quality standards for raw material suppliers.
- Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with agreed quality specifications.
- Oversee and coordinate with contract manufacturers to ensure the quality of production processes.
- Implement and manage corrective actions where necessary to resolve quality issues.
- Lead finished product testing, including microbiological and food technology assessments.
- Establish and maintain testing protocols for both raw materials and finished products.
- Work with internal and external laboratories to ensure products meet regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with experienced team members, like Hylene, to provide training on quality control processes, raw material handling, and product testing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the quality control process, focusing on reducing quality issues and improving overall efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements in food microbiology and quality assurance practices.
- Prepare and present regular reports on quality control metrics to management.
- Document all testing procedures and results for both raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain records of supplier and manufacturer compliance with quality standards.
- Work with the product development team to set up the required documents (e.g., product specifications) and ERP system to prepare for the transition from NPD to commercial.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Technology, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in quality assurance within the food industry, with exposure to raw materials and contract manufacturing.
- Previous experience in a role similar to quality control is preferred.
- Strong background in food microbiology, food technology, and quality management systems.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve quality issues effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
- Ability to train and mentor new staff in quality assurance processes.
