Universal Robina Corporation is looking for a Consumer Technical Insights.
This role is responsible for crystallizing the technical aspects of the consumer requirements, sometimes in the context of the marketing concept / RTB. This is a highly skilled role and creates unique consumer understanding by deploying a range of strategic qualitative, quantitative tools and sensory research (like Product labs, Kano, Methodology design, Statistical regression modelling etc..). He or she will play a key role in supporting the Global Innovations teams by identifying opportunities to better meet consumer needs, determine new sources of competitive advantage, drive profitable growth for the total business, and articulate the critical-to-quality requirements of the product. He or she is a key partner to R&D and Packaging development teams to drive the delivery of outstanding innovations and white space, and help create preferred products in the marketplace.
What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
Strategy
• Helps develops and supports the delivery of the Consumer Technical Insights program through consolidation and analysis of data generating meaningful insights to feed into the innovation pipeline or help close fundamental insight gaps.
Capability
• Leverages the sensory evaluation capability within the team and bridge the consumer language and sensory panel language to enable faster and more informed data-driven, consumer-focused product development cycle.
• Keeping up to date with the latest techniques, advanced sensory methods and novel statistical approaches to draw out relevant insights and data trends.
Delivery
• Typically, the role works as the CTO partner for a minimum of one category or one (international) country and provides guidance level support for others (depending on capacity and expertise). This is done with a specific objective of grooming the technical and leadership potential.
• Identifies the sensory research is needed to support project objectives and developing a brief for this.
• Executes the research according to best practice guidelines and helping to draw out clear and actionable insights and recommendations for project teams. Effectively supervises and controls the execution of the research administration (immersions, prototypes preparations, sequencing, questionnaire development, response documentation etc.)
• Conducts the actual analysis of the consumer research, at times using advanced software. Presents the actionable findings, learnings, and areas that need to be probed.
• Works closely with the Consumer Marketing Insights and R&D partners to generate consumer insights and translates them into sharp technical inputs that drives up the product and pack opportunities based on analysis of trends, consumer needs, understanding of technology performance and new technology impact on consumers.
• Delivers through techniques like Kano analysis, Product Labs, Rapid prototyping.
• Builds capabilities in new ares like enthography, Game board “model building”, Benefit Hierarchy Anaylsis, and Conjoint Analysis.
• Devises tests that will experiment with “emotion” and “packaging” as stimus.
• Provides oversight and coaching to the Sensory scientists.
• Creates and protects the intellectual property in the areas a product/pack understanding – in a consumer context.
• Ensures full compliance with safety and ethical standards for product testing and data management.
What are the Qualifications?
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in BS Food Technology, BS Food Science, BS Chemistry, BS Chemical Engineering, BS Economics, or other related courses.
- At least 3 years’ experience, at least came from FMCG industry.
- Technical depth and savvy
- Knowledge of the technical and business side of the category
- Knowledge of updated food regulations
- Knowledge on P&L and basic costing exercises
- Knowledge on tools relevant to consumer behavior and buying pattern.
