Accounting Assistant

Contexte : AXA XL, the property and casualty and specialty risk division of AXA, provides insurance and risk management products and services for medium to large multinational businesses, and reinsurance solutions to insurance companies in France and abroad. The position is within the Finance Department of AXA XL, supporting the development of activities of the French branch of XL Insurance company.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
• Accounting: You will be responsible for a number of accounting tasks (takeover of predecessor’s activities), mainly focusing on documenting accounts, monitoring cash receipts, resolving inter-company balances (documenting balances, settlement procedures). You will prepare the invoices issued by the Finance department in compliance with accounting and tax standards. You will participate in quarterly closing activities, particularly in calculating and monitoring provisions for bad debts.
• Taxes: You will be responsible for producing monthly service declarations (DES), the annual DAS2 declaration (fiscal reporting of fees/commissions paid during the fiscal year), monitoring VAT accounts, and participating in determining the VAT deduction coefficient.
• Treasury management: You will be responsible for monitoring/resolving bank entries, participating in bank reconciliation activities, and identifying and reclassifying bank fees on letters of credit (guarantee).
You will report to the Head of Accounting and Expenses Control, based in Paris.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
• You must have a higher education degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Junior experience (internship/apprenticeship – 1st experience) in tax compliance preparation or accounting consolidation work.
• Meticulous, proactive, structured.
• Analytical mindset, ability to write process documentation.
• Ability to quickly establish a trustworthy and effective internal relationship, while staying close to the business.
• Perfect command of English – working language (written/oral).
