Ground Handling Staff

Proudly connecting regional New Zealand since 1984, Air Chathams is searching for passionate individuals to join our team. This Whanganui Airport based role will see you at the forefront of our family-owned and operated business.
We are seeking keen individuals to join our ground handling team based at the Whanganui Airport. This role will see you at the forefront of our business, with the responsibility for aircraft ground handling and loading.
Air Chathams will guarantee a minimum of 10 hours each week in accordance with a roster. Shift duties will normally be rostered between the hours of 5:00am and 8:00pm, which includes shifts on weekends.
We require someone who will fit with the Air Chathams ground and flight crew and able to work well in a team environment. Flexibility is an essential skill as you may be required to stay later in the event of a disruption to flights.
Responsibilities will include:
- Operating on a roster providing ground handling services to Air Chathams’ aircraft.
- Aircraft loading, fuelling and cleaning.
- Maintain safe and efficient procedures at Whanganui Airport.
- Report to managers on safety or operational concerns.
- Actively identify and report any health and safety and operational hazards and risks.

- Be flexible, as you may be required to stay later in the event of a disruption to flights.
- Ability to assist with baggage handling, aircraft de-icing, loading and unloading freight.
- Ability to work under pressure.

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good health and safety culture.
Training, vehicle parking, protective equipment and uniform will be provided.
Important information: The nature of the aviation industry means your role might be affected by factors outside your control (environmental, delays, emergencies etc). In times like this, the ability to remain calm and confident, under pressure whilst being flexible and versatile will go a long way towards making passengers feel like they’re in good hands.
